Book Discount Airfares Knowledge Base
Does anyone know if airfares go down the closer you get to the date, or do they usually go up? I tried booking a ticket home for the summer (I live in Japan) on Orbitz, but it timed out. By the time I was able to get back online the next day, the fares had already skyrocketed! I heard the fares fluxuate, but this is redicules! Anyone know if you keep checking in on airfares, do they sometimes go down, or do other airlines sometimes offer more discount airfares from time to time? It is driving me nuts!
Question about booking a flight when you have a coupon/discount? If you are attending a meeting and receive a Meeting Agreement (WorldFile Number), you get a big discount on airfare with Northwest Airlines. My question is, can the person you're travelling with also receive a discount if they are not atending that meeting?
Does anyone know of a reliable discount international airfare company? I have been researching the cheapest way to book the flight I need to Chile in November. I found the exact outbound and inbound flights on different websites, as well as the airline's sight, but doing it from an outside company seems cheaper. I've found the best fare at cheapoair.com, but googled them and found the feedback on them to be about 90% complaints. I need good advice of REAL and RELIABLE companies to check out. Thanks!
Is airfare pricing negotiable if you book directly with the airline? I heard on CNN that retailers of all kinds are negotiating prices of goods and services due to the recent economic instability. Has anyone ever negotiated prices with an airline? I have searched every discount search engine already, but I want something lower. Any thoughts?
discount airfare for girlfriend? my boyfriend is in the navy and in japan right now. i am planning to go fly out there to see him, but he told me to hold off on booking my flight because he is going to check with SATO to see if he can get me a discounted flight. is this possible or is this discount just for him or for dependents?
want to book air ticket on line? i have to travel monthly to Mumbai , can some one suggest me some sites where i can book ticket online with lowest or discounted airfares.
How much in advance should you book your flight to get the cheapest air fare? I am traveling to NJ from GA for a family reunion. I need to be in NJ no later than Thursday, July 31. I was going to book my flight today (July 16) because I was told that most airlines require a two week advance booking for the best fares, also I have found that if you travel on Wedsnesdays the fares are cheaper. However, someone told me that most airlines have sales on Thursdays. However, that would only give me a 13 day advance booking. I have also been told that some airlines now only require a 7 to 10 day advance booking for the best fares. I'm getting a little confused with so much information. Also, could you supply some good web sites to find discount airfares. So far, cheapo-air seems to be the best one. Thanks.
Wanting to save money on booking a cruise in July 2010? Any suggestions for saving money when booking a specific cruise? I looked on the Carnival site and their price appears to be cheapers but like $20 but didn't know if there are ever discounts or percentages off available anywhere...... also need to book airfare for trip as well.
Why do airfare rates seem to increase on the weekend? I am planning an upcoming trip to Florida for the end of October. I will be booking my flight through either expedia.com, travelocity, or a similar website to these. I've been looking on these discount sites for some time and have noticed that the cost of airfare seems lower to book during the week and more expensive if I were to book during the weekend. Anybody else notice this? Anybody have any idea why?
Trying to book a flight to get my mom cross country for Delivery...? I'm in california, my mom is in Virginia. We're trying to book a flight so she can be here for (or real close to) time of delivery. The problem is - the window of possible delivery is so big... Does "birth" count as an emergency illness to get the discount last-minute airfare? Anyone else had this problem - or found a different solution? I know inducing is an option, but we dont want to do that. Some have "serious illness" discounts, and they very basically define it as "needing emergency hospitalization"... isnt that - technically - what delivery is? The window is so large because the baby is large for her age and really cramped in there - and a lot of people think she might be early. But since its my first child, statistically - shes going to be late. So between 37 and 42 weeks - thats a big window!!
I need help organizing a benefit concert!? I am organizing a benefit concert called Jams for Jude and I need a very large venue for this event. I am wanting it to be a big deal and have bands interested nationwide. Does airfare give discounts by any chance? How do I book airfare for bands? I'm looking for a very large venue, how do I go about insuring the venue? How would I present this to a venue? Also, how do I get monetary sponsors? I just need overall help in band booking and the basics of putting together this show.

Disney World Vacation for spring break 2010? My husband and I are planning to take our 2 girls to Disney World Orlando in late March (during their spring break). This will be our 1st trip so I need some good websites where I can get discounts on hotel, tickets, airfare, or can I get a package where everything is included ? Any help will be greatly appreciated. I really need to get something booked quickly. Thank you.
Would this be considered as a threat? I recently booked an international flight for my son through an internet discount airfare company. Yesterday, my son realized that he will not receive his passport in time for the departure on Sunday, June 21st and called the company to change his departure date to either June 24th or June 25th. The eticket he received states that airline penalties and a processing fee by the company will be charged in the event of changes. The company told my son the airline penalties would be $247.00 and the company fee would be $100.00 -- but then they placed him on hold and returned to tell him his ticket would cost an additional $5,000.00. My son was terribly upset, hung up and called me. I immediately called the company, was on hold for 45 minutes before speaking with a customer representative. When I tried to change the departure date, I was told the airline penalties would be $350.00 and the processing fee would be $100.00. The customer rep placed me on hold for 5 minutes, then returned and told me there would be an additional charge of $7,000.00. I read to her the statement on the eticket about changes, we argued about this for a little bit, then I insisted on speaking with her supervisor. Again, went through the same ordeal with the supervisor. It was difficult to understand the supervisor and the customer rep -- they are with a call center in India. I am preparing to call the toll free number now, hopefully talk with someone in the U.S.. This morning, I have investigated this company's practices and discovered it is fraud. My question is if I tell customer service that I am prepared to file charges and complaints with all authorities if this cannot be resolved reasonably, will my statement be considered a threat?
Traveling to the Philippines? I have done a lot of searching of different sites for discounted airfare for traveling to the Philippines, and so far they are all running about the same price. But what I am wanting to know is, is one of the discount websites better then the others? If so, is one more reputable then the others? For I will be booking a flight online for sometime this August but I don't want to use a site that won't deliver what is promised. Also any recommendations on which airline is best to use would be helpful. I have heard all sorts of stories about PAL, Cathay and Eva, so any personal experiences on any of these would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
What is the cheapest way to get to south east asia? I'm in phoenix arizona trying to get to Vientiane, Laos. It seems like there are a lot of different routes to take to get to the final destination, and I just want to get some advice from people with some travel experience. What complicates the situation is that I can probably get discounted airfare as far as Hawaii/Europe, then maybe leapfrog to Asia for a discount. It seems very expensive to fly into laos, and maybe it would be better for me to fly into a sorrounding airport and commute to Laos in a different way. Anyone have advice on the cheapest airports, carriers, best websites to look at when booking a flight? Thanks for the advice!
Does anyone know of an airline that offers discounts for toddlers (2 yrs.)? I have been searching airfares for an upcoming trip for my son and I. I've searched expedia, hotwire, and travelocity. So far, no one is offering a discount for a toddler. Do you know of any airline that does? I can call them directly to book a flight if I have to. I was under the impression I could take him as a lap child, because I have done this many times before. However, I was shocked to find out that when they turn 2, you can't do that anymore. They are no longer considered an infant and do not get the infant discount.
Cheapest airfare to Rio, Brazil??? HELP!!? I am looking to travel from Houston, Texas to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for Christmas break. I have been looking around for flights and they are so expensive!! Hi, me and my fiance wanted our wedding on the beach , where all our family and friends could afford to come.? We wanted to get married in Bora Bora but I don't think my family would be able to afford the airfare there. I have a big family in Illinois his lives in West Virginia and we live in Alaska so If we had the wedding up here a plane ticket would be about $1000 for everyone ,so I was thinking If an ticket costs that much, why not get married somewhere on the beach where everyone could enjoy a mini vacation together. The question is where could we get married on a beach where our family could afford to come? Is there discounts, if we book a year in advance, and if the family all book the same flight to leave to the same destination the same day? We were thinking Mexico might work, but any suggestions would be great, or if you've been to a wedding like this and know how they pulled it off let me know how.
Air travel question ? Guess the "travel" time from JFK (New York) to Perth, Australia if you book it the long route? (answer below)... My wife Dot and I are starting a Home Travel Agency. We are joining a very large outfit that deals with folks like us who want a home business. I used to work for TWA (Trans World Airlines) 25 years. Before they were sold to American. My job was International reservations for flights, tours, and cars. One day I was playing around with the computer and (at the time) found 25 different airfares between New York City and Los Angeles. Reason being a person can naturally fly non-stop or change flights thru many-many different cities (called "connecting" flights). You can also combine 2 different discount fares and fly "back to back" (Let's use a make believe fare for an example) Let's say a normal coach ticket New York to Los Angeles is $500. But, if we combine a New York "discount" $150 route to St. Louis, Mo. (change our own bag's or better yet have a small carry on bag) and pick up a $200 St. Louis to Los Angeles trip. Yea-yea I know some of you are saying, "Hey, blah-blah-blah !!!" OKAY GANG how about the person who flys "EVERYWEEK" ??? Or every 2 weeks? Let's say Mr. Fly-every-week work's that job for 20 years ? Hey kid's... NOW WE'ER TALKING $156,000 OF OUR PRETEND MONEY GOING DOWN THE DRAIN !!!!! All of you can call the airlines and get real money if you want. My point is, I just want to show you folks how to save money. Yes, sometimes fares are around for a short period of time. One time TWA had a $33 special St. Louis to Chicago one way for about a month. Now I'm not supposed to ask for your business here in Yahoo Answers... BUT... I can help a "new" friend with travel information if he or she has an up and coming trip they need help with. My e-mail address is attached to this... what ever it is. All I need is your dates of travel to & from and a list of towns your going to with how much time at each stop. I figure if I can help make your trip a bit better thats half the game won. Your going to find as you call around to different airlines and travel agents (say maybe 10 or 15 or so) your going to feel like you just dug a hole 30' x 50' and 20' deep in your back yard. Some of those agent's can really mess up your head !!!! (Phew-phew !!) >>>> The answer to the question on top is... 39 hours 55 minutes ! As I used to say (almost 95+ times a day) "Thank You for calling TWA, my name is Tom"
THAILAND..hotel stay with no advance booking..HELP!? I'll be travelling to thailand this month. I'm interested in shopping cheap clothes and visiting historical landmarks that include PAGODAs. I need an advice from those who are thai's or who already traveled there. OTHERWISE, dont waste my time! Anyway: here are my concerns: a. i'm planning to get the cheapest, but tolerable place to stay in. I'm not looking for a 5-star..IF I DECIDE TO JUST PAY FOR MY AIRFARE..WILL I GET A HUGE DISCOUNT ON MY ALLOWANCE IF I JUST FIND MY OWN PLACE WHEN I GET THERE? or IS THERE NO PRICE DIFFERENCE when i book in advance? Any recommendations?
Have you visited Perth ever? Today competition is very high among the airlines, so all these flights provide low cost airfares and cheap flights to Perth. You can book these cheap flights to Perth online or with your travel agent. Booking online will we preferable, as it saves time of long queues and commission of your travel agent. You can also get huge discounts on all the domestic flights to Perth in off season booking. These flights provide a good security support for its customers. You can use World Wide Web as a strong tool to get all the information regarding domestic flights to Perth. There are various sites which will provide you all the information regarding flights, fares, departures and arrivals. www.cheapflightstoperth.org.uk is one these sites. You will get all the information about flights at one place.
Tours via agency versus own booking via interent? Im interested to visit Taipei in early November and was browsing around for hotel and airfare rates. But after doing the math, it seems to be more expensive than what I might get at a tour agency. Plus I would need to go through all that hassel. Plus, sites tend to present an 'attenuated price' and its only until the final click that you'd realise "ohhh.. so that was the full price!!" Perhaps Im too noob in this (I have never made much purchases online before) so Im looking at the wrong places? Ok the short of it is, is booking online much cheaper than getting a tour agency to book it for you? I heard that tour agents get special discounts. If the answer is yes, why havent I been able to add up to a cheaper deal? Thanks (PS Im from Singapore)
I need help getting cheap airfare from Germany (Munich) to Nepal! It's for charity!!? Me (12), three of my friends (13,13,14), and one adult supervisor need airfare around May-ish (perferably May 13th-15th or 16th). Me and my friends have raised 500 Euros for a school there (SHREE MANGAL DVIP SCHOOL). Then an an anyominus doner doubled our money and we were thinking about using the other 500 Euros to fly there and bring them a bunch of our old books, toys and so on. I know that is a really low price range, but don't we get some sort of student discount? Please help us!!! If you know a pilot could they maybe give us discounted tickets? It's for charity!
Lower airfare after I purchased? Earlier this month, I booked a flight on Continental.com for $400. Now the price is at $360. However, the ticket is non refundable. Is there any way I can discount my ticket or get some money back? Yes, I actually asked this the other day Sarah, but I only got one answer, I was looking to see if anyone has had the same problem or has tried to talk back some money
Payment dilemma for vacation? For our wedding gift, my parents gave me and my husband a week at their timeshare, where we can chose anywhere we want to go. We couldn't afford airfare or a rental car at the time, so we put it off for a later date. We will be going in October of this year as kind of a vacation. Now we've incurred problems paying for our airfare and rental car. We have all the money needed, no problem (we've been saving for 2 years). But our bank will only allow us to put $500/day on our debit card, and the total cost is way more than that. Our only credit card only has a $500 limit, and were not going to open a new one just for one vacation. So we have no real way to pay for it. My parents offered to let us use their credit card if we pay them the cash up front (which is no issue), but they refuse to let us use their cc number online. Over the phone or through a travel agent is the only way they will do that (they are older, and there is no convincing them otherwise). They keep telling us to go through their travel agent. She booked a trip for is several years ago, and we got royally screwed over on the rates (we paid the same amount we could have booked the nicest suite in the hotel for online for the crappiest rooms they had available). Needless to say, we do not want to repeat the experience. My parents have the money to have someone else do it for them, and don't have to worry about every penny. We do not have that luxury. So I guess my question is, is there any of the discount travel sites that will except my parents credit card when they will not be traveling, and can do it over the phone? Or any sites that will take direct transfers from a bank account (we can do that for more than $500 a day through the bank, but visa put the limit on the debit card)? Or just any other suggestions how to do this without paying the ridiculous fees of a travel agent? Also, I don't need to hear about how we manage our money, or the fact we only have 1 low limit credit card. We do great financially, and could have a higher limit card, but don't care to have that kind of temptation. And as I said, we have all the money to cover the trip and then some,, but sadly, no one takes cash anymore. And as one final note, the resort is free, since it is a timeshare and my parents "gifted" us the week. All we have to pay is taxes, and if we use room service or resort amenities.
Trying to plan my parents a 25th anniversary cruise…? So I am 20 and I have two brothers and I was hoping to send my parents on a cruise for their 25th anniversary in Sept/Oct. They went on a cruise for the honeymoon and loved it but have yet to go on another one so I thought this would be nice. Questions I was hoping to get answered… Recommendations for location and length? My mom gets cold easily so I am leaning towards the Caribbean area but open to other ideas. Length I am hoping for between 5-7 days. Money issues…I am not entirely worried about money but I would like to keep the budget from going too much over $2000 if possible (including airfare). A major problem I think I may have comes with passports, neither of my parents have one. Is there any way of getting them passports without them physically doing it themselves? When is the best time to book a cruise for late Sept? I know some websites/cruise lines have discounts the closer it gets to the departure dates. Any recommendations of websites would be greatly appreciated. Last of all, any suggestions on possible off shore excursions that you have especially enjoyed yourself would be nice to hear as well. Thanks for all the help. I greatly appreciate any advice given.
I need help planning an Orlando vacation.? I've asked a question previously about this and the answers were somewhat helpful. However, they were not completly what I was looking for. Does anyone know of any Orlando hotels that provide transportation to the MCO Airport & Universal for sure?? I would possibly need transportation to Disney as well, but we are going there for one day so I am not too concerned. That's probably another question I should ask...what transportation company is cheap to take to Disney world from my resort? I'm stressing out because we need to book soon. I need a nice place to stay...3 or even 4 star!!! I wanna relax! I really love how Expedia combines both Airfare and hotel rates together so that it's somewhat affordable. My price range for expedia alone would be no more than $430. Here's what I am looking for in a hotel: pool, 2 QUEEN size beds, shuttle to the airport and parks, maybe a comp breakfast (not requ'd), maybe a spa (not requ'd). It would also be nice to stay somewhere with a little cafe or something small in it to save some bucks. Are there any travel agents or Orlando experts in the house?? I'm feeling a little anxious with time restraints and all. I already hold discounts for theme parks, possible rental car services and Expedia. PLEASE HELP!
