Cheapest Flights to Sydney

Is it possible to fly direct from Sydney to London?

I got my itinerary for a trip overseas and the flight home (London to Sydney) lists an hour stop-over in Hong Kong; however the flight from Sydney to London lists no stop-over. Does this mean it's a direct flight? Are they possible?

1. Yep, it's a direct flight then :) and Sydney does have direct flights to London
2. Yes it's considered a "direct" flight but they will land and refuel somewhere depending on airline. A Boeing 747-400 can't fly over 10000 miles without refueling.
