How do I get a cheap flight from Sydney Australia to Long Island New York?

I need to Know the best (cheapest) way to get from Sydney Australia to Long Island N.Y. Really want the best way to get to NYC or Long Island . The best time to fly , the cheapest way to fly and the fastest way to fly please if you know a good source to search this include it and if you have any suggestions they will be appreciated since this flight I believe is 22 hours atleast and added to the jet lag will be pretty exausting thanks in advance Peace!!!
