I have used them many times for seriously cheap airfare. They have a lot of last minute deals and specials that you should consistently check out and you may get lucky. Another good try is to look at the website for Australian airlines that fly from the U.S. rather than a U.S. airline. They often can have better deals. It never hurts to try Priceline if you are flexible about your dates. The best thing that you can do is plan ahead, look at many sites, and have flexible dates. This will get you the best deals.
