Cheapest Flights to Sydney

Where does one find the most cheapest flights possible?

Am a 26 yr old girl from NZ, living in Sydney wanting to travel to New York but wanting to only spend the barest $$ on flight travel. I've heard of courier/postal flights, and if your willing to be a little uncomfortable and fly with postal items it can be done?
